Personable, Genuine, Kind, Caring, and Brilliant are a few words that come to mind when I watch Christopher Hollins in action, taking the time to address every Houstonian who crosses his path. He is detailed, intentional, and focused on ensuring that he listens to every word that is shared with him. These are the qualities we need in 21st-century leaders because our world is in chaos. So-called leaders are being celebrated for doing the opposite of what our Forefathers intended when they wrote the United States Constitution. Then there is the hold on 1776 values that don’t reflect 21st-century reality. The Constitution was meant to be a living document that is always growing, improving, and ever-changing.

It is time we are honest and straightforward about what Politics should look like in the future. What kind of Legacy of Leaders are we leaving if Politicians stay in office for 50 years without investing in the leaders of the future?  I don’t mean making someone your flunky. I mean teaching, supporting, and embracing our young leaders to be authentic, true to their beliefs, and steadfast in their goals. Encouraging their choices, financially supporting their political aspirations, and building them up even when they fail.

Chris Hollins is a prime example of what investing in our young leaders can yield. Chris is the product of the Public Servants. His father is a retired Houston police officer and his mother. As a first generation college student, Chris knows the importance of a quality education to aquire the tools to achieve your goals. He is a 2007 graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga where he studied Political Science as a Pre Law Major. He then went on to earn his Law Degree at the number one law school in the nation, Yale University as well as a Masters in Business Administration at Harvard University.

As an intern in President Barack Obama's administration, he was awarded the opportunity to experience the power of hope and politics to make a unique impact on the world we live in.
