For 45 Years, The Company OnStage has entertained audiences of all ages. Now, this non-profit community theater is excited to begin its next chapter in a new location in southwest Houston at 5720 Bellaire Blvd. For the Company OnStage Board of Directors, regardless of location, the mission remains the same – to keep the arts accessible and affordable and to provide everyone in the community the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of production.

“The arts should be for everyone,” Vice President Jennifer Brown says. “Live theater is about inspiring the imagination and increasing empathy. When we put ourselves in the shoes of another, it changes our perspective and helps us understand each other in new ways. It’s also about making magic and having fun.”

The theater has seen its share of ups and downs over the years, but the unwavering support and participation from the community is what keeps The Company OnStage thriving. Entirely volunteer-driven, the theater welcomes everyone on stage and behind the scenes. According to Ms. Brown, “The theater doesn’t just need talented actors on the stage. We are 100% volunteers, so every aspect of the business – marketing, accounting, buildings, facility maintenance, IT, fundraising, and community outreach – requires people with various skills. Not to mention the creative side – stage management, direction, scenic design, lighting, sound, carpentry, costumes, and makeup. Whatever your talents are, we probably need it!”

The theater offers productions for both Young Audiences and an Evening Series geared toward adults. Evening Series productions run Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, with one 2 pm Sunday matinee. The Young Audience series runs Saturdays at 11 am and 1:30 pm, with one 2 pm Sunday matinee.

This season’s Evening Series opens on December 1st with The Charitable Sisterhood Christmas Spectacular, a comedy about a group of ladies preparing for their church’s annual Christmas Spectacular. Still, they’re having trouble staying focused on their preparations because there’s a criminal on the loose—someone has stolen the baby Jesus! This hilarious show will genuinely leave you filled with the Christmas spirit!

For family fun, join The Company OnStage for A Tale of Two Santas, opening on Saturday, December 2. This holiday musical comedy will keep you laughing when Max the elf tries to prove he can fill Santa’s shoes. What happens when things go sideways? What happens when you have TWO Santas?
